Physicians engaged by pharmaceutical companies are the authors, and their works are copyright works. The pharmaceutical company in this relationship is the user of a copyright work.

What is the benefit for the pharmaceutical company?

§  Security of qualifying a particular work as a copyright work, which strengthens a pharmaceutical company towards auditors and tax authorities during the process of supervision and lowers the risk of unlawful activities;

§  Advice on how, within the framework of an expert work, legally shape such work to conform to the legal definition of a copyright work;

§  Tax treatment of a copyright work is significantly more favorable than the tax treatment of any other contract on the basis of which a physician can be paid out.(tax department acknowledges 30% of material expenses as tax relief, which lowers the tax basis to 70%. On top of the 70% tax basis 25% of income tax is calculated as well as the local tax depending on the author's place of residence).
